Welcome Our New Youth Coordinator for the Diocese of East Tennessee!

Office of Communications June 19, 2017

From Bishop George:

It is with great gratitude that I share with you that I have appointed Jody Davis as our new youth coordinator for the Diocese of East Tennessee. I first met Jody about 6 years ago. He was rector of Happening and I was attending my first Happening closing in East Tennessee. He was a senior in high school and all reports were that he was an incredible young man, and those reports were right on target.

Since then Jody and I have worked together at Grace Point; St. Peter, Chattanooga; and ChattEY, and I have enjoyed watching him grow to be a tremendous gift to youth ministry in the diocese.

Jody will officially begin in mid-August, and one of his primary roles will be to nurture and facilitate the unity of all youth ministry in East Tennessee, especially Grace Point summer camp, Happening/New Beginnings, and DCYM (Diocesan Council for Youth Ministries). He will also oversee the Safeguarding God’s Children program, and more information about that will be available soon.

Jody follows Alex Haralson, who served in this position so faithfully and joyfully for many, many years. Please join me in welcoming Jody to our diocesan staff team.

A few words from Jody:

Diocese of East Tennessee Youth Coordinator jody DavisI am so excited to get to know you all as the new Diocesan Youth Coordinator. I grew up as a youth in the Diocese of East Tennessee- serving as rector at Happening #62 and Staff Leader at Grace Point Camp. As a lifelong member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Knoxville, most of my formative years were spent within the youth community. I cannot wait to share that experience with our current youth!

More recently, I served as the youth director at St. Peter’s in Chattanooga, where I attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I recently graduated from UTC with a degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in water quality. I love all things outdoors, including hiking and boating. I also love spending time at Grace Point where I build relationships with campers, counselors and staff.

As Diocesan Youth Coordinator, my goal is to build meaningful, lifelong relationships with every youth in our diocese. I have a passion for youth and the church, and I can’t wait to work with this awesome group of kids!
