Our new Reading Camp is ready to go - now we need your help!

We hope you and your parish will consider a contribution to the Reading Camp in support of this life-changing experience for participating children.

The camp is being planned under the umbrella of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee’s Appalachia Ministries Resources Team.

• We have a place – The Episcopal School of Knoxville with Nancy Laurence in charge.
• We have teachers – Kae Wrinkle of St. Andrews Maryville is bring them together.
• We have counselors – Sarah Dew of Grace Lutheran gathering them.
• We have children who need help – Susan Bolt of St. John’s Knoxville is working with contacts in a downtown school in Knoxville to identify them.
• We are developing curriculums for morning – reading classes.
• We have plans for afternoon – fun activities.
• We have also found transportation and made plans for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

But - we need money. Eric Haralson of St. John’s Knoxville – our financial/budget leader – says the cost for the 5-day session including materials, meals, counselors, etc. is estimated to be around $10,000. Assuming 20 student attending the cost per student will be around $500. Contributions in all amounts are welcome.
