I am very pleased to announce that the Rev. Patricia M. Grace (Pat) has accepted the call to be Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of East Tennessee. Pat will begin her new ministry with us on October 30.
Pat brings extensive experience and qualifications to the position.
Most recently, from 2011 to the present, Pat has served as rector for St. Mark in Dalton, Georgia. From 2006 to 2011, she served as Associate for Christian Education and Parish Life at St. Luke in Atlanta.
In the Diocese of Atlanta, she has served as Fresh Start facilitator and as congregational search consultant. She has served on the Congregational Development Commission and on the Seminarian Scholarship Committee.
Pat is no stranger to the Diocese of East Tennessee. From 2004-2006, she served as curate at St. James, Knoxville. While in the Diocese of East Tennessee, she served on the diocesan Board of Examining Chaplains and was an active participant in the Shared Ministry Committee, a volunteer in the Diocesan Youth Program and a co-chair of a diocesan convention.
She was the 2011 recipient of the John Hines Preaching Award given by the Virginia Theological Seminary, and was featured on Day 1 in 2012.
Prior to being ordained a priest in 2005, Pat worked in senior executive positions with United Way in Tennessee, Michigan, and Illinois. She has also led the Center for Women in Transition in Holland, Michigan and served as Project Director for Life Management Consultants in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Pat has consulted widely in the non-profit sector, advising on strategic planning, community organizing, and leadership development. She is also a graduate of the Haden Institute’s three-year spiritual direction program.
Pat holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary; a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Penn., and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Penn.
In our recent conversation, Pat told me, “I am thrilled to be coming ‘home’ to the Diocese that formed me for ordained ministry and am looking forward to working with old friends and new, for the building up of the Church in East Tennessee.”
